Pictures

Isn't it funny that when you try to get your kids to sit still while you take their picture, the pictures just don't turn out very well. Ok, well it is like that for me because my boys don't know what it means to sit still. I just have to take pictures of them in the act and they turn out much better. We had fun on Sunday walking through the gardens on campus and taking pictures of the kids.

To spank or not to spank!

ok, i am typing this one handed because i am trying to feed my baby with thr other. so excuse all of the mistakes. i just received a very funny email about a woman trying to sale pokemon cards on ebay b/c her kids somehow got them into the cart while shr wasnt looking. this lady had 6 kids and during the 4 hours it took her to do her grocery shopping those children did everything and more. i just have to say that even though i dont have 6 kids and may never know what that is like, I will never try and take all of them to the grocery store by myself if at all. I also think that yes, kids will be kids but do we always try to rationalize why we should not spank our children. I am always trying to find a different way to punish my children or give them choices or divert their attention but sometimes I think more and more that I am just spoiling my children and they need to learn that what is wrong is wrong and that means no is no. I also think you have to use your brain sometimes to help your children learn how to be useful and help rather than hinder your progress. Why can't older children get a list also, and help get groceries. Maybe, I am still very inexperienced and I really don't know what I am talking about. so I guess someday you might see my name on ebay trying to sell pokemon cards that my children stick in my cart and open them before I realized what they had done. So , I guess we all just keep going on and do the best we can with what we have.

Fisrt Day of 1st grade!

Well, TC got on the bus this morning at 7:35 AM. I haven't been outside that early all summer, what a joy! Poor little AJ had his backpack on and was all ready to get on the bus with TC. I felt bad telling him that preschool doesn't start until next week and he couldn't get on the bus. He just sat down on the sidewalk and just sat there. How sad! I am sure he will be so excited when he gets to start school. I think he is very ready.

Denver in a day!

Well, yesterday we drove to Denver and met Libby, Ellie, Pat, Garry, TC, and AJ at the Denver Zoo. We spent about 3 hours there. It was fun to see the excitement on the kids faces and watch them have fun. It was so good to see Ellie again. She has more hair than all three of my kids put together and she is only 2 months old. What a cutie pie!! We did a little running around afterward and headed up th mountain around 7:30. We got back around 9:30 last night, just in time to register TC for school online. I think it is so cool that schools allow you to check your kids grades and all kinds of stuff through the internet now. I have my own password to get his info. I will add pictures later since I am not at my computer and can't pull my pictures up on this one.

vacation is coming to an end

Well, we have been gone for almost a whole month now. The kids loved being in Tennessee with all their cousins. Steve was invited to spend the first weekend there with Dennis and Derek at Hilton Head in South Carolina. He had a great time and got that much needed vacation from school and work. He spent both days playing golf and swimming in the ocean. While he was doing that, I was with my parents and the kids. I was able to eat at Red Lobster for the first time since Steve can't eat at Seafood restaurants. It was yummy. We did that with Darrin and Jennifer, while Lauren watched TC and AJ. We also got to spend time with Derek and Marcie and their three kids, and Danny and Kathy and their family. The first Sunday of each month my whole family gets together and has a potluck. So we got to see just about everyone there. Cindy and Hannah were with Sarah in California. Sarah had little Aspen Marie on July 31st. I can't wait to see her and hold her. Babies are so much fun. We also spent a day at Lake Winnie with Marcie, Mavenie, Cole, and Leah. While we were their Steve was golfing again. He must love to golf! We had a lot of fun. We are in Colorado right now. It took me a few days to adjust to the time change again and alos had a severe case of Jet Lag. I am better now and ready to have some more fun. We will spend Thursday down in Denver at the Zoo and whatever else sounds good. I am sure the kids will love it. We will also be able to visit with Jason and Libby and their beautiful Ellie. We are excited. We will be headed back to Rexburg for our last semester of school. TC will start 1st grade on August 22 and AJ will start his first year of preschool. What will Dakota and I do?
